Life is good in Zell am See - and healthy, too! The community in the picturesque Alpine valley has been a climatic health resort since 1961. But not only that! Lake Zell also provides the town with a natural reservoir of 175 million cubic metres of the purest of drinking water. Naturally, the 4.3 square kilometres of its water surface are also wonderfully suited for fun and relaxation on ice or in the water.
Right at the gates of the town, you will find Schmittenhöhe rising up to a height of 2,000 metres. Wonderful walking paths with lots of good views are just a stone's throw away from the heart of the town. But it is also quite worthwhile spending a little time in the town centre of Zell am See: the shopping streets invite you to stroll around, and there is a weekly market in 'Stadtplatz' square.
Zell am See is linked to an extensive network of cycling paths that reaches as far as the neighbouring communities. But why should you go to distant shores when everything you need is right here at your fingertips? With its Parish Church, St. Hippolyt, and the town's museum at the Kastnerturm tower Zell also constitutes a cultural destination, while sports fans come here to watch ice hockey games of the local heroes of the national league club or the players of the town's football club.
